Ferrara, July 3, 2022 – Music greeted the arrival of the day in Certosa, in the Dawn concert that – this morning – marked about 600 attendance, after the as many recorded yesterday for the evening performance – in the same location – of the City of Ferrara Orchestra and the Santo Spirito Polyphonic Choir, conducted by Maestro, Australian, Daniel Smith e con alcuni solisti selezionati dal Maestro Leone Magiera. Minister Patrizio Bianchi was also present for the occasion.
Music was thus the highlight of the programming of the Pink Night in Ferrara, which also saw the weekend’s extraordinary evening openings of the Estense Castle and Porta Paola, the heart of the wall system in the southern portion, illuminated in the classic pink color for the occasion. This morning to greet the “Dawn of Sounds”-at 6 a.m. in the Certosa garden-was the Frescobaldi Conservatory saxophone quartet (Serena Tarozzo, Camilla Bottin, Enrico Barin and Fabio Lucarini) who, with the backdrop of the rising sun, played a repertoire that ranged from Ennio Morricone’s “Once Upon a Time in the West” to Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango. And then other great classics such as Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” George Gershwin’s “Summertime,” Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag,” the soundtracks of famous movies such as The Blues Brothers, The Wizard of Oz, and other very famous, very topical songs such as Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” At the end ovation of the audience, welcomed with an encore (just on the notes of Ed Sheeran) by the young saxophonists, all under 30. “After last year’s experience, this year we doubled the musical events in Certosa, to enhance this magnificent place, in the garden of the city’s largest open-air museum,” stressed Councillor Matteo Fornasini. “The large public attendance recorded yesterday and today,” he added, “is confirmation of the appreciation and attractiveness of the initiatives carried out, in a vast team effort, for which I thank all those who contributed.
“Pink Night,” said Holding Ferrara Servizi (which is based right in Certosa) President Luca Cimarelli, “is not only Riviera, it is also a city of art. Ferrara is there and, even in this context, he is increasingly making his contribution.” Participating in the organization of the Pink Night calendar initiatives were: City Hall, Holding Ferrara Servizi, Teatro Comunale, Ferrara Musica, Ferrara Arte Foundation.
